Match Officiating at Regional 1 is managed nationally by the RFRU and delivered by the four regional groups (North, Midlands, South West & South East). The Regional 1 Management Group is responsible for the strategy and leadership of the National structure.
The RFRU are recruiting a new independent chair to lead the Regional 1 Management Group. The role description is below.

PROCESS
This recruitment process is as below:
1. RFRU to circulate calling notice for applicants along with the Role Profile on behalf of both themselves as the board and Independent Chair to all society chairpersons and secretaries. Utilising e-mail, WhatsApp group and WtR.
2. A 2-A4 page maximum rugby CV is to be provided by applicants with the Role Profile in mind.
3. Deadline clearly stated (not a period shorter than 14 days from first advertisement) with applications to RMG Secretariat and RFRU Hon Sec.
4. Sift to take place between 1 x RFRU Board Member, 1 x Society Executive Member (by default from a society where no members have applied for the role) and the current Independent Chair. If the current Independent Chair is re-applying for the role, then a second RFRU Board member will take their place in the process.
5. Interviewing of candidates will only occur if deemed required after the sift.
6. Appointment made. (2-year term, option for a 1-year extension)
7. If no suitable candidates after the sift the RFRU Board reserves the right to appoint an Interim Chair for not longer than 6 months at which point the application process must have been re-started.
This is not an RFRU Board Position
There is reasonable travel remuneration but no other remuneration is associated with the role
Independent means; 'at the time of appointed as Independent Chair of the RMG the individual(s) are not current members of the RFRU Board, are not a substantive employee of the RFU (casual employees are not included) and not a Performance and/or Appointment Lead of a Regional 1 MOT (or Yorkshire equivalent)'.
