CALLING NOTICE: RFRU ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2026

Dear all,
In conformance with Article 32 of the Articles of Association, I hereby give notice that the Annual General Meeting of the Rugby Football Referees Union will be held Virtually on 24th August 2026 starting at 1900 hours.

The appointment of proxies should be done in writing in conformance with Section 41 of the RFRU Articles of Association which are available here: Articles of Association.

31st Man Workshop
James Fisher from NLD has developed the “31st Man” workshop that outlines the important and essential role of Referees as the 31st man which can be delivered to clubs and players.
This session is aimed at Society Chairs’ and Training Officers.

Development Day
This development day will focus on policy and practice for the match officiating community. We will look to establish some standardised national policies for Referees Societies, to both save duplication and enhance standardisation. In addition, we will establish some key priorities for the 2026/2027 season.
Several policies will be shared with member societies ahead of the day to attain feedback from people within societies. Attendance should be from Society Chair’s and Secretaries.

RFRU Development Day: Culture
The role of Referees Societies in being safe, inclusive and welcoming environments that uphold and lead the core values of our game cannot be understated. This development day will focus on topics like safeguarding, bullying, inclusion and the ways societies can address these issues, whether it is stepping in to prevent MOA, or ensuring our actions maintain safeguarding best practice.
This development day is especially for Safeguarding Officers and Training Officers, but should also be attended by Chair’s or Secretaries.
We will be joined by the RFU Safeguarding department and others.

In conformance with Article 32 of the Articles of Association, I hereby give notice that the Annual General Meeting of the Rugby Football Referees Union will be held at Broadstreet RFC on Sunday 15th June 2025 starting at 1000 hours.
Formal agenda and reports to follow. The AGM will be followed by a meeting of the RFRU Council to which everybody is invite, again topics will be shared in the coming week.
